Yukta Bhandari
Bio
I’m Yukta Bhandari, and I am an MA student in Psychology at New York University. I’m interested in how the stories groups tell about their past shape how people think, feel, and act in the present. In particular, I am interested in studying collective memory and how it influences moral decision-making, intergroup attitudes, and political beliefs. My work explores questions like: When does remembering the past bring people together, and when does it justify exclusion or harm toward others? I’m especially interested in how collective nostalgia and national narratives shape moral reasoning, group identity, and support for social or political action.Through my research, I hope to understand how shared narratives guide behavior in life and across cultures
Areas of Focus
Collective Nostalgia
Moral Reasoning
System Justification
