Postdoctoral Research Collaborator; Utrecht University

Enzo Cáceres Quezada

Bio

Enzo is a postdoctoral researcher at the Department of Interdisciplinary Social Science, Utrecht University (ERCOMER), working within CONCILIARE. As a postdoctoral researcher, he investigates how young European people engage with changing colonial cultural heritage (i.e., racialised products and blackface practices), including those with coloniser and colonised ancestry. More broadly, he examines how people in liberal societies claim to value equality and diversity while these societies remain increasingly unequal and resistant to difference. He has studied how unlinking colonialism from racial inequality sustains this duality, and currently investigates how engaging with repurposed heritage (e.g., monuments honouring slavery) can promote equality.

Areas of Focus

Social Inequality

Social Identity

Colonial Heritage
