RED(es) Presents Research at SPSSI 2026 on Collective Memory

July 10, 2026

RED(es) presented research at the 2026 Conference of the Society for the Psychological Study of Social Issues (SPSSI) through a poster presentation by Aimée C. Pérez Doble, a graduate student at the University of Puerto Rico, Río Piedras. The project is co-led by Janice Robles Fernández (University of Kansas) and Dr. Eduardo J. Rivera Pichardo (The New School for Social Research).

Drawing on the concept of living historical memory (LHM)—people's recollection of historical events—the project investigates how political ideology shapes the ways Puerto Ricans remember and evaluate the island's colonial past. An earlier version of this research was presented by Janice Robles Fernández at the 2026 Society for Personality and Social Psychology (SPSP) Annual Convention.

This research is part of an ongoing collaboration among the University of Puerto Rico, Río Piedras; Rutgers University; and The New School for Social Research, under the leadership of Dr. Teófilo Espada-Brignoni, Dr. Luis Rivera, and Dr. Eduardo J. Rivera Pichardo.

We congratulate Aimée C. Pérez Doble and Janice Robles Fernández on the preparation and presentation of this research at SPSSI 2026!
